What percentage of my overhead is energy?
- If your energy costs are low compared to the rest of your O&M, say 2%, you may want to look elsewhere before diving into energy saving measures. On the other hand if energy is a noticeable part of your cost of goods (over 10%) start looking to someone that can help you reign in those expenses.

Where can I find someone to perform an energy audit? - Most utilities (gas or electric) can get you started. Some offer real energy consulting services at all levels of usage. That is your starting point since most of these service are bundled with energy conservation programs that are typically mandated by the local public service commission. If this turns out to be a dead end, all is not lost. There are many firms dedicated to help you get the answers you need. If you are not able or willing to go that route, your last resort is to educate yourself. If your need is great enough, consider getting you or one of your employees certified.
